According to media reports Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department issued dispersal orders and detained 200 people following two days of rallies against President Donald Trump’s immigration policy in downtown Los Angeles.

When LAPD officers attempted to disperse crowds in downtown on Monday night, they were confronted by some protesters who were throwing rocks and bottles, according to NBC 4.

KCAL 9 reports that throughout the protests, at least 200 people were held in a tunnel on Cesar Chavez Avenue close to Union Station; several of them received fines before being released. That number of arrests was not immediately known.

On Monday morning, protesters first gathered near the Hollywood (101) Freeway, on the steps of City Hall.

Officers reported that members of the mob started hurling rocks and bottles at them, prompting the call.

«They were warned, they were identified and they were advised that if they do not leave, and if they converge again and continue this illegal activity they will be cited and in some cases arrested,» stated LAPD Commander Lillian Carranza to CBS 2.

With police permitting the assembly to travel through downtown streets, the protest seemed to be mostly peaceful.

According to CBS 2, a suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a handgun.

The Hollywood Freeway’s Spring and Main street overpasses were crowded with over 1,000 protestors by early afternoon, and police were on hand to stop them from attempting to cross the roadway, as many did on Sunday, according to The Times.

The mob seemed to be heading north into the Chinatown region during rush hour, so the LAPD set up skirmish lines and are attempting to disperse the demonstrators away from the Hollywood Freeway overpasses.

The demonstrations on Monday were a part of a statewide campaign called «A Day Without Immigrants.»

Hundreds of demonstrators also gathered at Sasscer Park and the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse across the street in downtown Santa Ana. Around 150 locals demonstrated against Trump’s immigration policy at Fifth and Ross streets.
